What speeds do my customers get?

Most of our customers on the BT Business Broadband Plus service receive fibre broadband products with download speeds up to 24Mbps, and upload speeds up to 3Mbps. The service is available in areas where BT has completed its roll-out, meaning that 76 per cent of UK premises are eligible. As fibre broadband comes into more residential areas, we expect an increasing proportion of those customers to move onto fibre services or higher speed services in the future. We deliver internet speeds of up to 97Mbps (download) and 44Mbps (upload) over our ultrafast Fibre Xfinity® service in certain London locations. For more information on fibre speeds contact your local office or visit www.bt.com/fibre .

How fast could I get?

The type of speed you can get from us depends on how close you are to your local telephone exchange. The further away, the lower the minimum speed we can reach you at. There are factors that influence the maximum speed we can reach you at as well, for example:

The distance from your premises to the BT network termination point where fibre connections begin. If you’re in a rural area, this might be several miles away; if in an urban one, it will be fewer than 100m. Maximum speeds are theoretically achievable over longer distances given the correct technology is deployed and maintained.

The quality of network equipment and infrastructure between your premises and the core exchange.

The type of infrastructure being used. You may be in a rural area where there is only one customer, so we cannot offer an ‘up to’ speed. In larger towns and cities, where several customers may share a single platform, speeds will be significantly higher.
