Hot Tub Brands To Avoid for Everyone

The world is a big place with many different companies and products. When it comes to hot tubs, you have a lot of variety to choose from, but there are some brands that are better than others. If you’re thinking about buying a hot tub for your own home or as a gift for someone else, here is the list of five brands that should be avoided at all costs:

1) Intex

A large percentage of Intex hot tubs come with too small an inflatable top making them susceptible to leaks and popping like balloons when filled. If you do buy an Intex hot tub, I recommend that you also buy a different brand of hot tub.

2) The Coleman Company

The Coleman Company has some of the most inferior hot tubs on the market. Out of the box, most Coleman hot tubs require much more maintenance than other brands and will lose air pressure in a short amount of time. In most cases, multiple call-outs per year are needed to maintain serviceability. If you end up buying a Coleman, make sure to buy one from a popular brand (such as Mosquito Joe or Spas USA).

3) SaniSpa

SaniSpa is a brand that is most popular for its spas. While SaniSpa does have a few hot tubs, their quality is subpar and nowhere near the quality of other brands such as Spas USA or Intex. I personally know a woman who had to call the company several times just to get the filters replaced on her hot tub in one year’s time. Not only that, but the chemicals were always out of balance and she ended up getting rashes around her neck and arms.

4) Ozone Spa

This brand is notorious for having defective parts, spilled chemicals, and leaking. They have been known to have push button controls that are made of cheap plastic and break off easily inside the hot tub. If you’re thinking about buying an Ozone hot tub, good luck ever getting any help from customer service with repairs.

5) Suntouch Spas

The company behind Suntouch Spas has a less than stellar reputation when it comes to customer service and their spas typically don’t last long. Suntouch spas are plastic and typically pop out of the ground and will eventually leak. Buyer beware – there’s no real warranty for these spas. These hot tubs do not last very long, usually two to three years of use which is not very long at all.

These are just some of the many brands that I have personally dealt with and they should be avoided at all costs. If you do buy a hot tub from one of these brands, make sure to keep it clean, maintain it properly, and check in on it every once in a while to make sure it’s not leaking or filled with dead bugs and other debris.

1. Do I have to replace a hot tub because it’s made by one of these brands?

No, you don’t. You can always buy other products that are made by the same company (like chlorine and shock). Just make sure to avoid the brand completely.

2. What are your top five hot tub brand recommendations?

The list is so big and there are so many brands to choose from, but here are my top five:

1) Spas USA‏‎ – This is hands down the best brand on the market when it comes to hot tubs. They have been around for over 25 years now and they make some of the safest, highest quality spas on the market. They have numerous add-ons and even have a number of different hot tub models to choose from. I would recommend buying a Hot Tub from another manufacturer, but if you do happen to buy one from Spas USA, I would also recommend buying some of their fantastic filters.

2) Intex‏‎ – This is the second best brand on the market. Their hot tubs are usually very well made, but they tend to be very expensive and not very durable. Again, you can always buy other products that are made by the same company (like chlorine and shock). Just make sure to avoid the brand completely.

Conclusion

Avoid these five brands for hot tubs at all costs. All the research that I did shows that these brands simply do not make quality products. I also know many people that have bought Intex and other Coleman brand hot tubs and they have had very bad experiences with them. If you end up buying one of these brands, it is typically only a matter of time before leaks begin and the heater doesn’t work anymore.
