So, what is SumUp?
SumUp is a payment service designed to compete with traditional credit and debit card payments. In an effort to remain innovative and make life easier for businesses, we have developed a card reader that allows you to accept payments wherever you are – whether that be at trade fairs, festivals or other public events. Our system allows you to accept payment in a way that suits your business.
What is the difference between SumUp and other similar services like PayZone?
Unlike Payzone, we don’t take a commission on your transactions. As such we charge you a flat rate for the use of our product. You can find out about these fees here.
How does SumUp work?
It’s very straightforward! Firstly, you need to register for an account at SumUp and select from one of two packages – Pay as You Go or Business Account. The first is perfect for those looking to make small payments where a full-scale account might not be suitable, while the Business Package is ideal for larger operations who will be making multiple payments per day. Both packages are competitive when it comes to charges and you can find out more details on this here.
Once you’ve chosen your package, you can then begin to accept payments at your business. You can choose to do this via our Virtual Terminal where you will be able to process payments in real-time and keep track of everything or via the downloadable app on your mobile phone. Or if you want to work completely offline, we have a card reader with a keypad that works independently of the internet.
SumUp is also unique as it allows you to receive payment on any merchant terminal that accepts chip and pin cards. This gives you an added level of flexibility and convenience that other services simply don’t have.
Why should I use SumUp? Shouldn’t I just stick with traditional payment methods?
The traditional payment methods that you may be used to, like PayZone, take a commission rate of between 1-2% of your total sales. That means that every time you make a sale using traditional methods, the company takes money from you. This not only takes money directly out of your pocket but also reduces your profit margins.
With SumUp, we charge a flat rate of 0.30% (except in high season). This means that every time you make a sale using our system, the company takes no money from you – it’s 100% profit for us! If you compare this to traditional methods, where 1-2% is taken out of sales by the credit/debit card provider, then SumUp will actually increase your overall profitability by 20-30%.
SumUp also helps you to protect yourself against unexpected costs and fraud. With traditional payment methods comes the risk of having your card information stolen or misused. This can result in spending far more than was originally intended due to the extra charges incurred when making transactions.
We’re all about making life easier for those in the catering and hospitality industry. SumUp is the perfect solution for accepting payments online, wherever you’re based. It’s not only cost-effective but also completely safe and secure so you don’t need to worry about any problems.
